Jewel of Muscat Near Launching

According to reader named Oman, the Jewel of Muscat, a replica of a 9th-century sewn-hull dhow under construction in Oman (the country) is nearing completion and will probably be launched this month. Photo here. For more on this project, see this previous post and the accompanying comments. Thanks Oman (the person)!

  1. Hi, it's an incredible project. I am suprised to see the way the boat is built, a very ancient system is still used in Arabia and the Indic ocean. In the Mediterranian, near my town, there is a wreck of an acient greek cargo boat from the V century BP made by the same way. The wreck is called cala sant Vicenç.
